Dr. Chiu is a committed environmental advocate who obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong. He has a background in academia and a professional career in an NGO undertaking work related to environmental advocacy, nature conservation, environmental education and community engagement projects developing gardens for various social service organisations in Hong Kong.
Currently, he is involved in field studies on the biodiversity of plants and wildlife in Fung Shui Woodlands, and, the development of community gardens as wildlife-friendly habitats.
Dr. Chiu’s professional service record is considerable and includes past service on many statutory bodies and working groups of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR: Currently, he is a member of the:
• Expert Group on Ecological Conservation (Civil Engineering and Development Department)
• Appeal Board Panel (Town Planning)(Development Bureau)
